Both. I usually start out on paper, then color it with either traditional or digital media.

The head, starting with outline and the nose. I then draw the face and fix the head shape.

My eyes go really wide when I'm drawing as if I'm in some sort of trance. o_o

Use lots of colors and blend well.

...A LONG time.

It's different for every piece.
